Pro-Lifers Now Majority

In May Tony Perkins' Washington Update heralded Pro-Life gains in our Nation. After
a  Pew Research poll showed pro-life supporters in the lead Gallup conducted a poll of
their own. It is now official, "a majority of adults (51%) in the U.S.said they consider
themselves 'pro life.'"*  

This is a significant shift.  That 51% is up from the prior 44%.  And the pro-choice
numbers have dropped from 50% down to 42%. "Gallup notes that this is the first time
a majority of adult Americans have identified themselves as pro-life since Gallup began
asking the question in 1995."**

The Republican party should take note of the fact that from 2008 to early 2009 the
numbers of self-professed "pro-life" Republicans has grown from 60% to 70%. Now,
that is a significant growth in such a short time. As Tony Perkins says, "If the GOP
insists on alienating pro-lifers, it does so at its own peril!"*

"Predictions that the "culture wars" are dying down, it's clear, aren't coming true.
Especially when it comes to abortion. The battle for the hearts and minds of abortion
moderates is only heating up."*
